Materials:
Core
Strands
- 2 pieces of gimp each 6 inches longer than desired length of
finished item.
Working Strands
- 2 pieces of gimp each 6 times longer than desired length
of finished item,
Note: 3 feet of gimp working strands make 6 inches of twisted cobra
Note: 6 feet of gimp working strands make 1 foot of twisted cobra
Directions:
1. Twisted Cobra with Right Twist: Choose 2 strands of
gimp for care strands (these will not be seen in final item).
Choose 2 strands of gimp for working strands. Tie 4
strands together at one end. Hang knot on nail, cup hook
or suction cup hook (Fig. A).
If desired, cut 2 strands of gimp each 6 inches longer than
the desired finished length (core length) PLUS 6 times
length (working length). Fold strands at core length over
smaller end of snap hook. Hang hook on nail (Fig. B).
2. Arrange strips as in Fig. A. Number working strands I and 2.
Center care strands are not worked and do not need
numbers. Make loop, then turn strand I OVER care
strands toward right. Turn strand 2 OVER end of strand 1 ,
BEHIND core strands and THROUGH loop of strand 1. Pull
strands taut around core.
3. Repeat step 2 (Fig. B) until desired length is worked (Fig.
C)
4. To fasten off, tie simple overhand knot to secure ends, OR
make last stitch loose, bring ends through last stitch
toward center core, pull taut and clip 1 from last stitch.
5. Twisted Cobra with Left Twist: Arrange strips
as in Fig.
D. Number working strands I and 2. Center core strands
are not worked and do not need numbers. Make loop, then
turn strand I BEHIND core strands toward right. Turn
strand 2 UNDER end of strand I, IN FRONT of core
strands and THROUGH loop of strand I . Pull strands taut
around core.
6. Repeat step 2 (Fig. E) until desired length is worked (Fig. F).
Fasten off in same manner as right twisted cobra.
